Access Control

Access control is a security system that helps to restrict access to a site/building/room or computer by asking for a unique code. That code can be a simple code entered on a keypad or a more sophisticated credential such as a fob, card or even a finger print or retinal scan.

There are three main system types,

The first is a simple code that when entered onto a keypad will open a door or a gate/barrier to allow access. This solution offers a low level of security as the number could be shared or copied by anyone wishing to gain unauthorised access. The key codes are programmed at the keypad and each keypad is adjusted individually.

The second is a ‘stand alone’ proximity access system. This is a combination of proximity readers which are operated by a proximity card or fob. The fobs or cards are programmed at the reader using a ‘master’ or ‘shadow’ card and each reader is programmed individually.

The third option is a ‘networked’ proximity access system. This is a more sophisticated option as the readers are joined on a data network. Access can be controlled by a central PC or via the cloud allowing an administrator to control flow through the building. A company could have 100’s of sites across the world all controlled locally or internationally. Credentials can also be more sophisticated with extremely secure cards or fobs offering the highest levels of encryption. Readers can also be very secure with a combination of highly encrypted cards or fobs with biometrics and codes. Any system can be a combination of security levels. The system can display a synaptic map of door condition and can work alongside fire alarm, intruder alarm, CCTV and BMS systems

Yes you can use an online PC based system that can offer lift control, a card can be allocated to a particular lift car and that lift car will then only take the user to a specified floor.

Yes we can offer a bespoke solution that includes turnstiles or barriers and integrated card readers

The answer to this is that you must have a valid credential, but this can be on your smart phone or smart watch.
